The Estate

The Quinta de Santo António do Serrado is situated in Vilar Seco, Nelas, at the heart of the Dão Demarcated Region in North-Central Portugal, where winemaking has been a way of life for centuries.

The estate has been in the Pais de Brito family and its descendants since the late 17th century. The wine continues to be aged using the traditional French method in oak barrels, but the production and bottling methods have been fully modernized, producing a wine that, while maintaining its unique characteristics, meets the highest standards of quality recognized by all wine enthusiasts.

The Vineyards

On the sunny slopes of the Dão region, where the vineyards grow slowly over time, the terroir gives rise to wines of unique and profound character. This seven-hectare estate, with its south-facing vineyards, fully benefits from the sunlight and climate influences, allowing the perfect ripening of the grapes.

With almost 6 hectares dedicated to red wine, the selection of grape varieties is careful and emblematic of the region. Tinta Roriz, with its robustness and intensity, provides structure and complexity to the wine, while Alfrocheiro contributes elegance, smoothness, and notes of fresh red fruits. Touriga Nacional, the jewel of Dão, adds an unmistakable floral character, with hints of violets and firm tannins, giving the wine full body and remarkable aging potential.

In the 1-hectare plot dedicated to Encruzado, the region's principal white grape variety, wine production is marked by the minerality and freshness typical of Dão. This white wine stands out for its balanced acidity and citrus and floral notes, with a structure that allows for admirable longevity in the bottle.
